IT Strategy & Consultancy

A practical technology roadmap that moves your business forward, not just keeps the lights on.

Technology that moves your business forward

Good IT is more than fixing problems: it's a plan. We work with you to build a clear, practical roadmap that removes bottlenecks, cuts unnecessary costs and gives your business the tools and structure to scale smoothly.

Whether you're planning an office relocation, moving to the cloud or preparing for growth, we make sure technology decisions are made once, made well and made for the long term.

Most of the businesses we advise are between 5 and 100 staff and have reached the point where the decisions are getting expensive: a server coming to end of life, a lease running out, an acquisition to absorb, or simply too many suppliers to keep track of. Strategy work is what stops those decisions being made in a hurry.

What a strategy engagement covers

It starts with an honest picture of what you already have. We document every system, licence, contract and renewal date, then map that against where the business is going over the next one to three years. The output is a roadmap: what to do now, what to do next, what to leave alone, and what each step costs.

That covers the whole estate, not just the parts that are visibly broken. Hardware refresh cycles and their timing. Software licensing, and where you are paying for seats nobody uses. Connectivity contracts, and whether the line still matches the headcount. Cloud against on-premise for the systems that could go either way. Security posture, and any certification your clients are starting to ask about. Supplier consolidation, where several contracts could sensibly become one.

What we do not do is steer you towards a preferred vendor. We are carrier and vendor neutral, which means "keep what you have, it is working" is a legitimate outcome and one we reach fairly often.

Strategy is quoted as a fixed-price piece of work with a defined deliverable. If you go on to take managed support with us, the roadmap becomes the basis of your quarterly reviews at no extra cost.

Our IT Strategy service includes:

  • Technology roadmaps aligned to your business goals and budget
  • Cost reviews finding overspend on software, support and licensing
  • Cloud strategy hosting, migration and hybrid-working design
  • Office relocations planned and executed without downtime
  • IT procurement vendor-neutral advice on hardware and software
  • Budget planning predictable technology spend, year after year
  • Supplier consolidation fewer contracts, fewer renewal dates, fewer people to chase
  • Risk and continuity planning what breaks the business, and what happens when it does

How an engagement runs

Consultancy has a reputation for producing documents nobody reads. Ours is structured to end in decisions, not a binder.

  • 1. Scoping call. A short conversation about where the business is heading and what is already causing friction. Free, with no commitment attached.
  • 2. Audit. We document the estate: devices, servers, licences, contracts, renewal dates and the things only one person currently knows how to fix.
  • 3. Options and costs. Every recommendation carries a cost, a timescale and a plain-English explanation of the trade-off. You see the option we would not choose alongside the one we would.
  • 4. The roadmap. A written plan split into now, next and later, with budget attached to each phase so it can go straight into your own planning.
  • 5. Review. We revisit it as things change: quarterly for managed support clients, annually otherwise.

Service levels and what happens next

Strategy is advice, so it is not governed by ticket response times in the way day-to-day support is. What it does come with is a named consultant, an agreed date for each deliverable, and a written record of every recommendation, so nothing depends on remembering a conversation from three months ago.

If the roadmap leads to project work, that work is quoted separately and scheduled around your business. If it leads to managed support, our contractual response times apply from the day we take over: 15 minutes for critical issues and 30 minutes for high priority, backed by service credits if we miss them.

Why choose CT1 for IT Strategy?

  • Practical advice that is current, tested and genuinely useful
  • Vendor-neutral recommendations: we work for you, not a supplier
  • Experience across professional services, retail, healthcare and more
  • Plain-English explanations of every option and trade-off
